CompTIA Security+ exam cost, from voucher to booked seat

• Pass on the first try: one voucher, $439.
• Fail once: a second voucher at $439.
• Prepay the risk: the Retake Assurance bundle ($579) adds one retake. Worth it only if a second attempt is a real possibility for you.
• After you pass: $150 in CE fees per renewal cycle, plus the cost of any CEU activities you pay for.

Plenty of cost pages still quote older, lower prices. Check the date on any number you read, including ours; store prices and bundles change without notice.

1. Buy the voucher from that US store or an authorized partner. Resellers sometimes undercut the list price; confirm the exam it covers and its expiry.
2. Redeem it in CompTIA Central. That account holds the voucher and links to the scheduler.
3. Pick the exam code (SY0-701 or SY0-801 while both are offered) and the delivery: in person or online.
4. Choose a date in the Pearson VUE calendar. The name on your appointment must match your ID exactly.

Pearson VUE delivers both, and a pass counts the same either way. At a center you sit in a proctored room on their machines; OnVUE uses your own computer and needs a system check before exam day. The OnVUE exceptions are listed in the delivery policies. Language support differs by edition; the Where you test row has the list.

There are no fixed national exam dates: you pick an open test-center slot or an online session, and online sessions run around the clock. Rescheduling follows Pearson VUE's appointment policy (see the row above); read it in your confirmation email before you book a date you might need to move.
